Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recognizes the academic achievement of college students 和 provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars 和 leaders. 建立了 in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses 在11个国家. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges in 1929. 与它的 headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi, more than 3.5 million students have been inducted since 1918, with approximately 250,000 active members in the nation’s community colleges, making Phi Theta Kappa a true catalyst among members 和 colleges.
Phi Theta Kappa is the 国际 Honor Society of two-year colleges that enables active members to apply for PTK scholarships at four-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa members are recognized for their academic achievement as well as their community service, fellowship, 和 leadership. 纳瓦罗大学 has two Phi Theta Kappa Chapters: ζο 和 Beta Upsilon Chi.
Many opportunities exist for members of the ζο 和 Beta Upsilon Chi chapters to develop leadership skills. Members may be elected to hold any one of seven officer positions for a one-year term. 领导 development is also encouraged among members who lead appointed task committees towards the fulfillment of service projects within the college 和 community.
The benefits of Phi Theta Kappa membership include recognition by wearing a gold stole 和 tassel at the 纳瓦罗大学 commencemement ceremony. In addition, membership in the society is noted on the student's official transcripts 和 it is embossed on 他们的文凭. There is also extensive opportunity for scholarship awards exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa members.
